Explore

The western side of the Lake District is the quieter part - here you will find mountains, lakes, valleys, a fantastic coastline with miles & miles of sand and some great sunsets.  All without the crowds or the traffic.

In this exposed and rather rugged part of the National Park, now a World Heritage site, each season brings its own delights.

Situated at the entrance to the Wasdale valley, 1692 Wasdale has direct access to the bridleway network with several interesting walks right from our door.

The  Wasdale valley is home to England’s deepest lake - Wastwater, its highest mountain - Scafell Pike and the smallest Church. From Wasdale you can also, walk Scafell, Great Gable, Kirk Fell, Pillar, Red Pike, Yewbarrow, Haycock, and Illgill Head all of which offer their own challenges and rewards.

In the  adjacent valleys of Eskdale and Ennerdale you will find Hard Knott, Crinkle Crags, Harter Fell, Scoat Fell, Starling Dodd, High Crag, High Stile and another Red Pike!
